Dr. · Postdoctoral Researcher

Research profile
Eliseo Luongo works on stochastic partial differential equations and nonlinear PDEs, with a particular focus on problems arising in fluid mechanics and transport theory. A central theme of his research is understanding the mechanisms governing well-posedness and non-uniqueness in these equations. He studies how stochastic perturbations can regularize the dynamics, enhance dissipation, or select solutions in singular regimes, as well as how instability mechanisms can lead to non-uniqueness in supercritical PDEs.

Uniform Approximation of 2D Navier-Stokes Equations with Vorticity Creation by Stochastic Interacting Particle Systems
Published · Nonlinearity 36(12), 7149–7190 (2023). We consider a stochastic interacting particle system in a bounded domain with reflecting boundary, including creation of new particles on the boundary prescribed by a given source term. We show that such particle system approximates 2d Navier-Stokes equations in vorticity…

Dissipation properties of transport noise in the two-layer quasi-geostrophic model
Published · Journal of Mathematical Fluid Mechanics 25, 28 (2023). A stochastic version of the two-layer quasi-geostrophic model (2LQG) with multiplicative transport noise is analysed. This popular intermediate complexity model describes large scale atmosphere and ocean dynamics at the mid-latitudes. The transport…

Inviscid Limit for Stochastic Second-Grade Fluid Equations
Published · Stochastics and Partial Differential Equations: Analysis and Computations 12(2), 1046–1099 (2024). We consider in a smooth and bounded two dimensional domain the convergence in the $L^2$ norm, uniformly in time, of the solution of the stochastic second-grade fluid equations with transport noise and no-slip boundary conditions to the solution of the…

On the Hausdorff Measure of ℝ^n with the Euclidean Topology
Published · Real Analysis Exchange 48(1), 101–106 (2023). In this paper we answer a question raised by David H. Fremlin about the Hausdorff measure of $\mathbb{R}^2$ with respect to a distance inducing the Euclidean topology. In particular we prove that the Hausdorff $n$-dimensional measure of $\mathbb{R}^n$ is never…

Inviscid limit for Stochastic Navier-Stokes Equations under general initial conditions
Published · Journal of Differential Equations 389, 114–149 (2024). We consider in a smooth and bounded two dimensional domain the convergence in the $L^2$ norm, uniformly in time, of the solution of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations with additive noise and no-slip boundary conditions to the solution of the corresponding…
